Laptop Screen: WXGA WSXGA or WUXGA?

When you buy a widescreen laptop, it can be confusing choosing the right LCD. In general, given a choice between WXGA, WSXGA and WUXGA notebook displays. What are and who you choose?

WXGA, WSXGA and WUXGA

The above acronyms are resolution standards for television and computer monitors. All standards relate Widescreen: WXGA Widescreen Extended Graphics Array means; WSXGA Widescreen Super Extended Graphics Array, WUXGA widescreen and Ultra Extended Graphics Array.

WXGA, WSXGA and WUXGA are not the standards of the screens but are more common in laptops. True wide screen standards, three of them have an aspect ratio of approximately 16 / 9-16/10. They differ mainly in its resolution (the number of pixels that can be displayed on the screen.)

While all widescreen displays can use resolutions lower than their Nominal screen, to offer the best picture in its native resolution, which is also their maximum resolution. Note that the resolution is much less easy eyes, if you want to go with a native resolution that does not let you squint at the screen of your everyday use.

WXGA with a resolution of 1366×768, proportion aspect 16 / 9. WSXGA boasts a greater resolution of 1680×1050 and an aspect ratio of 16/10. WUXGA uses a resolution of 1920×1200 with an aspect ratio 16/10.

What to choose?

If you buy a laptop for games, you probably want a WUXGA screen sharper image. If you are a subscriber HDTV and plan to use your laptop as an HDTV receiver, WUXGA gives the highest resolution available. Also WUXGA is ideal for watching movies and viewing digital images due to the strong representation of images and pictures.

In addition, WUXGA is very convenient For multitasking, as long as writing can be given smaller. The 1920X1200 resolution is perfect for working on two documents or pages web side by side, that can improve productivity.

Despite a WUXGA LCD seems the obvious choice due to its higher resolution produces more office space and greater amount of detail, this does not mean that WXGA and WSXGA have nothing to say. In fact, WUXGA is not for everyone.

If the laptop has a mobile graphics and a powerful 17-inch LCD screen or more games in HD and 3D more difficult because it requires a high-end GPU to push modern games 3D models of a resolution of 1920×1200. As mentioned, customers with less than excellent vision are better off choosing WXGA most text. If you want a laptop screen with a text support, crisp images, and less than 17 inches to the physical screen size, WSXGA a good compromise and resolution of 1680×1050 is not trivial, by any means.
